The Event Center in the old town of Waterton about 1/2 mile south of the Lockheed Martin Entrance. Parking across street to the north.
HPD Volunteers need to be at the Waterton Parking lot meetup across from the event center by 7:00 am to prepare for the day.
From C470 and Wadsworth, go south on Wadsworth Past the Lockheed Martin entrance about 1/2 until the road bends to the east. Parking is in the lot north of the road. The Event center is south of the road.
What to Bring:
Sunscreen, Hat, insect repellent, Water, your fishing vest and flies for the Kids to use. A willingness to help kids learn to fly fish. HPD will supply lunch.
The day starts at the Event Center in the old town of Waterton where the kids will learn about fish identification, knot tying, fly tying, fly fishing gear and fly casting. The roll cast is the one generally taught to the kids as it is most useful on Lake Lehow. After the classroom instruction, HPD will provide lunch for everyone at the picnic area at Lake Lehow which is north of the parking lot across from the Event Center.
After lunch, the Kids and HPD Volunteers will go fishing. The volunteers will have flies for the kids to use, help tie flies on the leaders and assist with roll casting. Lake Lehow has a variety of fish, blue gill, crappy and trout are usually caught.The lake is owned by Colorado Parks and Recreation.
The Kids Event starts at 8:00 AM. HPD volunteers will man the parking lot and assist with parking.
