About Us

Who are the High Plains Drifters?

We are the High Plains Drifters, a Denver area fly fishing club and a charter member club of the Fly Fishers International. In 2016 we were awarded the IFFF McKenzie Cup as one of two outstanding clubs for the year.  With over 100 members of all skill levels, the club organizes numerous activities to socialize, fish new and favorite waters, and develop new skills.  Regular meetings occur typically on the 3rd Wednesday of every month and visitors are always welcome.  Please see all our pages on the website or visit our Facebook page for meeting locations and more information!

What do the High Plains Drifters do?

The High Plains Drifters fly fish, that is the easy part.  They host a dozen club organized trips per year in the Colorado and surrounding area.  They host annual events such as the club picnic and Christmas party.  In addition to the trips and events, they host monthly meetings that local experts and guides present various fly fishing topics to the club members.  The club also participates in and organizes local conservation projects and community building events.

To promote the sport of fly fishing by providing opportunities for fellowship, fishing, education and skills improvement.

As a club, and as individuals, we value our environment, the principles of good fellowship and continual self-improvement.  We are committed to our sport and guiding principles of Fly Fishers International.  We pride ourselves on our dedication to sustaining our sport for future generations while honoring our commitments and sustaining an affordable and fun club.
