What to Bring:
Your fishing gear if you are going fishing, rain gear, hat, sunscreen, appropriate clothing for cold weather to sunny.
Lunch unless you are going to Deckers to the restaurant there. Healthy Appetite, Willingness to help clean up.
Start off the fishing season with our traditional HPD Pancake Breakfast at Mike Owens Cabin on the South Platte at Scraggy View. Sat 3/21/20.
Mike and Cathy Owen are our gracious hosts again this year. Good eats and friendship followed by fly fishing. If you can get Mike to give up one of his secret flies, you will catch fish.
We will meet at Mike and Cathy Owen’s Cabin on the river. We will start cooking around 8 am. Hope to see you all there.
March can be a real windy bitter day or very sunny. Plan appropriately.
From Sedalia go west on CO 67 thru Pike National Forest until you see the Sprucewood Inn. Highway 67 bears left. You want the right hand fork. This road will take you down Nighthawk Hill to the T junction at S. Platte River Road or CO 92. (PAY ATTENTION >> To the signs that say steep grade. It is true. SLOW DOWN there is a steep drop off on that part of the hill. Stay to the right side of the road going down and be careful coming the other way home.)
At the junction of Night Hawk Hill road and S. Platte River Rd, turn left and follow Platte River road about 2 to 3 miles. Look for Mike’s Cabin on a little hill to the left or south side of road. There should be some balloons and an HPD sign at the road.
