Please join the HPD and a few of our casting instructors, club entomologists, stream readers, and gear heads, enjoy just an all around good time learning the sport of fly fishing. We will be discussing topics like bug selection, hatches, and what to look for before and during your fishing expedition. We will discuss river flows, and reading a river or stream. Casting instructors will be on hand to help you figure out how to lose fewer flies and, things like how to adapt your casting to certain river conditions. Have you ever wondered the best way to store and deal with your gear? we will have instructors on hand to show you how it all works. Or at least the basics. Our location is yet to be determined but we are working on a few options. One potential issue will be our expected high flows in our local rivers and streams.
Lunch will be provided by the club.
Bring the gear that you would like to learn with. Extra gear may be available in some situations. Below is a list of recommended but not required items that you should bring, if you have, for the class.
-Flies: But do not purchase any for the class. we will have some as
well. Just bring what you normally would to fish with. Please no worms or salmon eggs. HAHA.
This class is only open to registered HPD members who are new to fly fishing and designated instructors. We have a limited number of instructor slots so please contact Greg Frick to volunteer for this class.
-Bring your wonderful smiles and a desire to have fun!
We look foreword to seeing you on the 1st.
