HPD opens the summer season of fishing with a pancake breakfast at the Owen’s cabin and for the second time we are getting together all members and their families to close the summer season by gathering around a bunch of dutch ovens full of tasty food. This is a time to share fish stories, renew acquaintances, share some good dutch oven cooking, and maybe catch a fish or two.

When: Saturday, September 22nd
Where: Mike and Cathy Owen’s cabin on the South Platte River
Time: Set up and start cooking at 10:30, serve food 2:30 – 3:30
Fish, play games, and mingle anytime you are not cooking or eating
Clean up at 4:00
The Owen’s Cabin on the the South Platte is at 2606 S. Platte River Road, Sedalia CO
Drive south on Hwy-85 or S Santa Fe Drive,
Turn right (west) on Hwy-67 (Manhart St) at Sedalia.
Continue on the paved road toward Deckers.
After about 14 mile of paved road, take the right fork at Sprucewood.
Continue about 3 miles on the dirt road to the “T” intersection at S. Platte River Road (CR-97).
Turn left (south, or upriver) on the paved road following the S. Platte River.
After about 3 ½ miles turn left on the dirt entrance road marked by “Scraggy View” signs.
Our cabin is the first driveway on the right (2606 S. Platte River Road).
If you set eyes on the Ouzel campground, you’ve gone about ¼ mile too far.
