Warmwater fly fishing!  Catch bass, perch, sunfish, crappie, and other non-trout species in one of multiple ponds and lakes at St Vrain State Park in Firestone on Public Lands Day.

We will also look to do a bit of trash pickup during this event as a conservation event.

Trip Captain:  Ivan Calhoun

Schedule will be as follows:

  • 6 am – Meet for Breakfast at Cracker Barrel,350 W. 120th Ave., Northglenn (at I-25)
  • 7:15 am – Arrive and put in to start fly fishing, exit 240 (Hwy 119) off of I-25, Firestone
  • 11: 30 am – Lunch at Bald Eagle Lake
  • 1 pm  – Litter pick-up in the Park, fly fish for the afternoon

Flies to bring:  Woolly buggers, Clousers, leech patterns (olive is great), other small streamers.  You can fly fish topwater lures like deer hair bugs and poppers early in the morning.

Bring a kickboat or real boat if you have one as a couple of the lakes are better fished from the water.
