2017 Club Picnic

Date(s) - Saturday, Jul 22
8:00 am - 6:00 pm

The only club meeting/event in July is our annual picnic which this year will be held July 22nd at Manitou Park, just north of Woodland Park.   Fly fishing for trout in the lake and creek starts whenever you get there.  Wading is not allowed in the lake but the banks are easy to cast from.  You can launch a small craft including kickboats though.

The club will be catering a barbeque lunch from Rudy’s Bar-B-Q in Colorado Springs.  Food will be served at 12:30.  There is no cost but if you want to bring a dish of your own to share please feel free to do so.

We need a headcount so if you did not sign-up at either the North or the General meeting please respond email info@hpd-fff.com indicating that you are coming and if you will have a guest with you.

We have reserved the pavilion there but please bring a lawnchair.  We could also use a couple of folding tables if you have one handy to bring.

The Park is located on US Hwy 67 about 6 miles north of Woodland Park.  Best route to get there is south from Deckers, about 26 miles.  There is a $6 per car entry fee though a US park pass can get you in.  They do recommend car pooling due to limited parking and the park does get considerable use.  No camping is directly available but there are a couple of campgrounds nearby.

More info on the park is at https://www.recreation.gov/camping/manitou-lake-pavilion/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=72085.

There had been a thought to run a casting competition after lunch but this will be rescheduled to a later date.

Hope to see all of y’all there!

This event is fully booked.
